Beyond Analysis: Applying an Outcome-based Framework to Improve Project Success
Join us for our April 2021 IIBA Seattle chapter meeting, in the cloud! We are very excited to have Catherine Deluca as guest speaker. Catherine will provide tips and techniques on how to apply an outcome-based framework to improve project success.
Beyond Analysis: Applying an Outcome-based Framework to Improve Project Success
Every engagement for a BA comes from a need – whether it is the implementation of technology, replacement of technology, or a change driven by an external source – and includes definition of what is happening now and what needs to be happening in the future. We create a package of requirements, hand it off to an architect, build the solution, and present it to stakeholders.
Learning objectives
What happens when progress on a project grinds to a halt during reviews because the solution doesn’t fully meet the needs of the stakeholders or the end users point out that there are things missing from the workflow they actually follow … the list can go on and on.
Beyond Analysis provides a framework and tools that a business analyst can use to look not only at the stated need (replacing an outdated system), but also to catch other inter-related impacts and provide a higher degree of project success.
About the Speaker
Catherine has spent the last 15 years working with Avocette Technologies Inc. in Vancouver, BC implementing the Sohema case management software for social service agencies. She has gained invaluable insight from working with these agencies to ensure the implemented solution provided efficiency for end users in maintaining case files, enabled reporting of service delivery statistics, and most importantly, included a framework for measuring client progress towards completion of goals.
Through this experience, she has acquired a great deal of knowledge about outcome management frameworks and how they support the work of the social worker with their clients. Adapting that framework to both product development and project implementation has resulted in a different approach to defining and measuring project success.
