The Lean Analyst: How do you bring a Lean view to your analytic work?

Tuesday, October 24, 2017 -
6:00pm to 8:00pm

Barry L Smith has been a member of the AIM Consulting team since early 2015, as a Lean/Agile
practitioner in AIM’s Delivery Leadership practice. He works with AIM clients in all stages of
their Agile journeys, serving as Scrum Master, Product Owner, coach or facilitator.

Barry began his technology career in traditional Product Management roles, at companies that
ranged from small startups to Intel. In 2007 he was first introduced to Agile, as the Product
Owner for a Scrum team building an early iPhone app. It was an eye-opening experience that
ignited his interest in Scrum, Agile and Lean. For the last ten years, his focus has been on
helping teams to find better and more enjoyable ways to create software.

Barry holds certifications as Scrum Master (Scrum Alliance), SAFe 4.0 Program Consultant
(Scaled Agile), and Product Manager/Product Marketing Manager (AIPMM). His academic
background includes a B.S. in Geology and an MBA, both from the University of Washington.

Event Details:
The role of business and system analysts is rapidly evolving, with analysts being asked to be “more agile” to align with changing IT practices. But common Agile frameworks like Scrum, Kanban or SAFe don’t even mention an analyst. How do you decide where to add value in this shifting landscape? We’ll discuss how the Agile sea change is affecting the analyst role, the challenges it brings, and how Lean principles can help you stay on the leading edge. Bring your questions for this informative and interactive session.
